Dr. Kevin Kellim has served as Music Director for the Topeka Festival Singers since 1987. During his tenure, he has built the ensemble into one of the leading performing ensembles in the region. Dr. Kellim is also the Director of Choral Studies at Washburn University, where he conducts the Washburn Choir and Washburn Singers and teaches courses in conducting and private voice. He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Southwest Baptist University, a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from Kansas State University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from The University of Kansas.
Dr. Kellim recently completed his 25th season with the Festival Singers, and has been recognized for his excellent work with the ensemble. They consistently receive positive reviews for their performances, which ranges each season from the “Classics to Pop”. Dr. Kellim and the Festival Singers have participated in two European performance tours. In addition, they have also premiered new choral works by such noted composers as Libby Larsen, Daniel Gawthrop, Ben Allaway, André Thomas, Robert Aldridge and Walter Pelz.
Dr. Kellim is also the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church, Topeka, where he conducts the Chancel Choir during worship services and for special concerts. He is an active conductor and adjudicator of several honor choirs, festivals, music workshops, and camps throughout the country.
